The valley that fed a city
Clevedon and the Wairoa Valley contain one of Auckland's most complete rural heritage stories, spanning indigenous cultivation through colonial settlement and the river-based food trade that established Clevedon village. Author Jessie Munro delivers a 30-minute presentation exploring how the Wairoa river valley supplied a growing city, followed by heritage morning tea and access to the McNicol Homestead museum.
Participants can walk the new Clevedon Village Heritage Trail, a self-guided 6km route connecting 19 heritage sites through a village built around food production.
